Steps in 2012

by Giovanni Foschini on 12/21/2012

We’ve come to the end of 2012, and it’s interesting to look back with a view to understanding what the biggest steps of the year have been: which strengths to rely on in tackling new challenges, despite the catastrophic predictions of the Maya. 🙂

For starters, we realized that development for mobile devices is an opportunity waiting to be seized. I’ve said this many times but I’d like to say it again, because while I meet companies that are both aware of this and interested in it, it’s just as true that many are still waiting beyond the threshold. It’s the latter that I’m urging to stop dawdling and get started right away. And if you need a hand, I have an number of ideas ready for you.

The second thing we found was that going abroad is truly important. First of all because the world is a very big market, but also because preparing a product for this challenge makes it all the better. Opening to new countries is really no joke, and it takes a lot more than just translation. It’s a path that will help grow both the product and its maker.

Finally, we’ve seen that in order to work productively we have to work together, which for us also means finding tools for carrying on a daily conversation with the users of Instant Developer. This year like never before, we’ve seen how vital the Forum is; it’s a simple yet effective tool for collecting tips on ways to improve.

These are the steps we’ve taken in 2012, and they’ll form the foundation of our work in the upcoming year. I’m sharing them with you because I think they might be interesting for you too.

Warm wishes for a splendid 2013.
