From Foundation to the Digital Future

A few of you may have noticed that in the most recent post, when I invited you to Palazzo di Varignana, I didn’t even tell you the title of the event we’ve planned. That’s because titles always reveal too much. On May 29th, you are invited to:

Instant Developer: From Foundation to the Digital Future

In 2011 we organized Ten2Start to celebrate our 10th year, release 10 of Instant Developer, and to announce that we would also be focusing on developing for mobile. On May 29th, 2015, we want to talk to you about how you can tackle the digital future that awaits us.

Indeed, software development continues to evolve, and not only because of mobile. Undoubtedly our habits and the ways in which we expect to accomplish certain things have changed markedly, even compared to just a few years ago. Consider Uber, AirBnb, WhatsApp, and thousands of other services that at one time were not even imaginable, and I think we’re only at the beginning. The Internet of Things, 3D printing, the new devices that are coming to market, like glasses and smartwatches, are only offering us a glimpse of what awaits us and how we’ll need to change the way we make software even further.

It’s not just a question of technology: in recent years we’ve learned for example that to be successful we have to shift from data-oriented development to process-oriented, and that our customers want applications that don’t only work well but are also attractive. It’s not enough to be good programmers – you also need the help of some new types of professionals: graphic designers and user experience experts first and foremost. All of this is crucial if we want to develop “innovative” software that can stand out from the competition.

These are only a few of the subjects that we’ll be happy to address at the event on May 29th, so we can begin to share what we imagine the digital future might look like.

Certainly though, it takes more than just imagination. In fact, in order to address these issues in a concrete way, we have to roll up our sleeves, and that’s why we’ve decided to make the job easier for at least one of you, by giving participants the chance to win one fantastic Apple Watch. That way you can start inventing applications for this device immediately, and maybe you’ll create the next truly disruptive app!

What do you say? One more reason to join us!

Fair warning: there are only a few spots left at this point, so if you haven’t registered for free yet, do so here as soon as possible!
